Pauline Smith works in a variety of different media including painting,
sound, music, performance, film and installation.
Her practice is rooted in sensory experience and explores colour and light,
space of place, space and time, form and formlessness.
Alongside her art practice Pauline Smith has worked in a wide range of jobs and settings
that include: Workshop leader at Tate Liverpool; Artist/Educator at Tate Modern supervising
summer education programmes and devising educational resources;
Art and Music community workshops/projects in youth clubs,
day centres, adult mental health and rehabilitation;
Teaching secondary school art & design; and, as a Musician (performing, touring, recording) and teaching piano and brass instruments privately and in a Saturday music school.
She currently works: in primary school learning support delivering 1:1 art interventions to children with a range of additional needs; as a Drawing and Talking practitioner – a more specific therapeutic intervention to support children’s mental health and emotional well-being;
and, as a Massage Therapist.
